Ava Moore

Intern

Ava Moore was the 2025 Spring Nimitz Intern at the Center for Maritime Strategy. 

A recent graduate from the University of Washington in Seattle, Ava has a B.A. in International Studies and Arctic Studies. She spent a year in Tokyo, Japan at Waseda University’s School of International Liberal Studies. 

Ava’s interests include U.S.-Japan partnerships, security in the Asia-Pacific, Indigenous and international relations in the Arctic, climate security, and the role of science in international affairs. She has published and presented research on China’s dual-use scientific research in the Arctic. 

Ava previously interned with the American Chamber of Commerce in Tokyo and worked as a building manager for her college union.
