The Congressional Maritime Intensive is a three-day program run by the Center for Maritime Strategy in Arlington, VA. The program aims to educate Congressional staffers about the history and application of U.S. maritime power and the implications of strategy on our nation’s defense posture and budget. Participants will learn from and interact with distinguished senior leaders in the national security and military communities. This course, designed for Congressional staffers, supports and helps inform the relationship between policymakers and Department of Navy leadership.
The curriculum includes reading on naval history, strategic culture, decision-making, and operations. This intensive course features a mix of seminars, simulations, and presentations. The course will gather for three days and will feature interactive wargaming and an offsite field trip. Participants will be responsible for completing background readings ahead of each session.
The Congressional Maritime Intensive seeks a professionally diverse and driven class of Congressional staffers, junior to senior level, carrying policy portfolios relating to defense, security, and foreign policy. There is no limit to the number of participants from an office.
