The third annual Congressional Maritime Intensive was a three-day program run by the Center for Maritime Strategy in Arlington, VA from August 6 to August 8, 2024. The recurring program is designed to educate Congressional staffers about the history and application of U.S. maritime power and the implications of strategy on our nation’s defense posture and budget.
This course, designed for Congressional staffers, supports and helps inform the relationship between policymakers and Department of Navy leadership. This year, participants learned from and interacted with distinguished senior leaders in the national security and military communities, including:

The curriculum included reading on naval history, strategic culture, decision-making, and operations. This intensive course featured a mix of seminars, simulations, and presentations. The course also featured interactive wargaming and an offsite field trip to Newport News Shipyard.
