Lydia Miller

Intern

Lydia Miller was the 2025 Spring Nimitz Intern at the Center for Maritime Strategy. 

She is a senior at The George Washington University, pursuing a dual Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and Political Science, with a minor in Naval Science and a concentration in Security Policy. Lydia is a 1/C Midshipman with GWU NROTC, commissioning this spring.

Lydia has honed her expertise through time with the U.S. Department of Defense, where she supported the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations N3/N5 with operational strategies, and the U.S. Department of State, where she led efforts in foreign arms transfers and U.S. security engagements. At the Institute for the Study of War, Lydia leveraged her fluency in Ukrainian and Russian to conduct OSINT analysis and provide actionable insights into military strategy.

Her research interests focus on the intersection of national security and U.S. naval strategy, particularly the implications of great power competition and geopolitical tensions on military readiness and naval operations.
