Since November 2024, the Center for Maritime Strategy has convened the Maritime Industrial Base (MIB) Working Group—a series of private, Chatham House Rule workshops bringing together key members of the U.S. government, academia, industry, and select international partners. These meetings provide a forum for candid discussions on the challenges and issues facing the MIB.
Meeting monthly, the working group has been briefed on critical topics such as tracking MIB funding, additive manufacturing, AUKUS, Capitol Hill perspectives, the intersection with national strategy, and workforce challenges within the MIB
This session will be the culmination of the CMS MIB Working Group and will summarize the problems and roadblocks identified in these convenings. This session will assess the status of the MIB and discuss proposed solutions and policy options to alleviate sector issues.
