Louis Derechin
Louis Derechin is a Nimitz Intern at the Center for Maritime Strategy and a rising senior at Colgate University, majoring in Political Science with a focus on International Security.
He has significant interests in US grand strategy, Indo-Pacific security, and great power competition, specifically as it relates to US-China relations. Previously, Louis interned at Academia Sinica in Taiwan as a research assistant on security studies scholarship regarding US-Taiwanese defense posturing and its impacts on public opinion, which culminated in his co-authorship of a study currently under review at The China Quarterly and the development of a new study on political persuasion in international security developments. He was also a Dubinsky Intern of Local Government Affairs in the Chicago branch of the Jewish United Fund.
At Colgate, Louis is a Lampert Scholar, an honors student in the Political Science department, and an active contributor to the Colgate Political Review, where he analyzes international and security developments for a broad audience.
